Portugal Overlanding Trip September 2025 19TH -30TH
A trip like no other. It's time to join us on an unforgettable adventure of a lifetime. This September, Green Laning Lennie are proud to present our ultimate Portugal adventure. The trip for those travelling with us from the UK begins in Portsmouth, where we meet, introduce ourselves and get set to board the ferry. The crossing takes around 33 hours and will land us in Spain early Saturday morning. From here we will meet anyone in the group who has chosen to meet us in Spain. Some of you may decide that you want to extend your trip and choose to drive to Spain and meet us at a rendezvous point close to the Santander ferry terminal.
Once all grouped up, we will embark on the 4 hour drive down to the first track on this epic adventure. Entering Portugal in the north of the country gives us access on to tracks with amazing views through the hills. This is where the real fun begins! From the get go this trip will give you the chance to test yourself and your 4x4, with routes for all abilities; finishing the first day with a friendly atmosphere on a campsite with a campfire getting to know your fellow adventurers.
The next morning we pack up camp and make a move heading south west, where we tour around some abandoned buildings along some more brilliant tracks heading west. Finishing Sunday will be as far west as can go; ready for a trip along the coastline. Monday morning's location allows us to head into town so we get stocked up on supplies and hit the sand! This is where you will really feel like you're in another world, with tracks and scenery like no other. We will take a route that follows the wild west coast of Portugal for up to 3 days. During this time we will drop tyre pressures, take on huge (but manageable) dune drives, deep sand and amazing wild camping. While on our beach run we have factored in a buffer day; meaning that if we encounter any delays it will give us chance to catch up or have a more relaxed day when drivers can have a break, relax and enjoy the surroundings and have some downtime to use as you please.
Leaving the sand on Wednesday, we head back inland to take on some water crossings and deep mud! (weather depending). From here the remainder of the trip will be spent inland in the south of the country using camp sites. Late on Friday sees us head north to meander back to Santander for the return ferry, or if you are making your own travel arrangements to a farewell point.
To summarise: a real once in a lifetime expedition with like minded individuals making memories to last a lifetime. Portugal is a true 4x4 paradise which we can't wait for you to join us to share our passion for all things 4x4 in one of the most breathtaking parts of the world. For this trip you will need a reliable 4x4 with some previous off road driving experience; which if new to the overland world can be gained on one of our UK tours.
The group will be split between 2 professional tour guides with years of experience allowing us to guide everyone through our adventure, with spotting and line advice on any of 'tricky bits'. We will provide all critical recovery equipment however it is advised that you have basic self recovery items to ease any potential recoveries; however your tour guides will always be nearby to help and advise. You will also need basic/common spares for your 4x4 and have a basic understanding of your vehicle and common weak points. Please contact us prior to booking if you are unsure on what you and your vehicle may need.
For 2025 we have now added a stop in a stunning Hotel. Included in the cost.
What we provide:

What You Need To Provide:
A way of getting to and from Spain. We recommend the Portsmouth-Santander ferry. We will assist you with booking this if needed.
A valid passport.
Full European breakdown cover.
Travel insurance for all people in your party.
Basic spares for your 4x4 Camping and food storage equipment that will allow you to be able to go without needing a shop each day.
